All About Jessy.

jessy loves myotherapy

Brooke has maintained a passion for animals since a very young age and has been lucky enough to own and care for many animals throughout her life. She became a veterinary nurse in 2008 which is also around the same time she met a dog called Jessy. It was this dog. Jessy, that inspired Brooke to start this very business.

Jessy had some clear gait and limb abnormalities at the age of 9 years. Being a vet nurse, Brooke went about doing everything she could to 'fix' the problems that Jessy had. During this time it became evident that there was a need for something more than veterinary medicine for animals such as Jessy. Unfortunately, it also became clear that she was never going to be able to fix this beautiful dog despite the radiographs, medication, supplements etc as there is no cure for the arthritis that she had in her hips, elbows and spine.

One day it dawned on Brooke that perhaps this sweet dog, like many others, would be euthanised at some point purely due to the fact that she couldn't walk and not due to any other health condition. Being a healthy dog in every other way this frustrated and saddened her.

What she did realise, through her extensive research, was that she could make this dog feel more comfortable and she could potentially decrease the speed at which Jessy's joints deteriorated through the use of myotherapy. This could potentially prolong her life and increase her quality of life. Brooke also noticed that there was a need for modalities such as myotherapy within the veterinary industry. She saw many pets which could have suffered less, maintained better quality of life for longer, recovered from surgery quicker or with less complications if owners and veterinarians were more aware of the benefits of modalities such as myotherapy & physiotherapy.

It became Brooke's mission to do whatever she needed in order to help other pets as well as to help the animal industry to be more aware of the benefits of myotherapy. She studied animal anatomy, equine and canine myotherapy as well as finishing her veterinary nursing studies, working full time and setting up this business 'Helping Jessy Animal Myotherapy'. She claims it was all worth it and now she is helping many other animals.

For those of you who may now be wondering... Yes, beautiful Jessy is still living life to the fullest at age 14yrs. To this day she still receives regular myotherapy treatments, which assists her mobility and quality of life.
